The African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), in partnership with the World Bank, will host the High-Level Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Forum on the margins of the Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government.
This high-level event will mark the official launch of the Accelerating Access to Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in Eastern and Southern Africa Multi-phase Programmatic Approach (AFE WASH MPA), a flagship regional initiative aimed at accelerating access to sustainable, climate-resilient WASH services across Eastern and Southern Africa.

The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors has approved a financing envelope of up to $1.58 billion for a new program that will dramatically increase access to climate-resilient water supply, sanitation, and hygiene services across 12 countries in Eastern and Southern Africa. The Accelerating Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Program will be implemented in multiple phases, and benefit at least 30 million people, with special attention to women, girls, and marginalized populations. | Find out more ->
The High-Level Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Forum, taking place on 14 and 15 February 2026, will mark the official launch of the WASH Multi-Phase Programmatic Approach (MPA). Convened by African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) in partnership with the World Bank, the Forum will bring together Ministers, financial institutions, and development partners to advance systems change in the WASH sector, mobilise sustainable financing, and strengthen the use of digital and data-driven solutions to accelerate access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene across Africa.
